The Nehemiah Company

The Lord spoke clearly to me on Sunday, June 16th, 2020 with these words,
“I’m raising up a company of Nehemiahs in the earth.”
Of course, I’m sure if you were brought up in children's church like I was you would immediately make the correlation between the life of Nehemiah and his courageous act of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. Rightfully so. Nehemiah can certainly be admired for his vision to once again establish the place of his forefathers as a central fortress, and become a dominating force in the region. Although I believe there are strategic blueprints found in Nehemiah’s spirit-led strategy, and much more we can learn from this heroic figure.
The location that once belonged to Nehemiah’s ancestors had suffered a significant amount of disintegration, and the walls that once protected the city from the adversary were destroyed. (Seems accurate with our current state in America, doesn’t it?) When the condition of the city was brought to Nehemiah’s attention he was deeply grieved. Nehemiah’s immediate response of prayer personifies the fatherly wisdom given to Timothy from Paul when he instructs him in 2nd Timothy 4:2 to “be prepared in season and out season.” Nehemiah exemplifies the appropriate humility and inquires of the Lord’s mercy on behalf of the sins committed by his forefathers. I once heard a wise man say, “you can’t go wrong by placing your heart above your head.”
When complex situations arise before us, typically we choose to not follow Nehemiah’s example. We allow the anxiety of difficult circumstances to snatch us from our seat of peace. The pressure of today that results in a dead-end street, is to post rather than pray. A kingdom man gets Yahweh’s perspective before he presents his own. We must refuse to invert our role in our relationship with the wisest teacher we have been given, the Holy Spirit himself. This way of thinking is exactly what got Peter in trouble in Matthew 16. We have reactionary opinions being thrown at us from every direction. We have been given a biblical mandate to be the solution, not add to the problem. Become the cure, not the sickness. Leverage breakthrough, not conform to the chaos. Make no mistake about it friend, He is the teacher, we are the students. He longs to guide us into all truth, and whisper revelation to those who incline their ears.
Nehemiah served as a cupbearer to the king. One of the responsibilities of a cupbearer was to maintain a cheerful spirit in the king’s presence. After an extended period of prayer and fasting, Nehemiah appears before the king perplexed carrying a heavy burden. At this point, his heart is aching to fill the chasm between a city left in ruins and the will of God for His chosen people. Rather than remaining isolated, disinterested, and choosing to refrain from engagement, Nehemiah inserts himself into the storyline. Mature leaders accept responsibility for things they may or may not have done. Nehemiah’s sin did not cause the ruined state of the city, yet he personalizes the problem and repents for something he did not cause. A key principle to gain here is no move of the spirit comes without deep repentance. The need for prayer and fasting has never been greater. Nehemiah took ownership and prepared the way for massive innovation. This emerging company of Nehemiah is not lying dormant and is learning how to conquer territory in the spirit in a more excellent way. Most of my so-called “church” experience could be more accurately defined as hiding out when my bible clearly instructs me to get off the bench and get in the game. This remnant won’t give in to this madness and is bridging the gap between biblical realities and the condition of the cosmos as we speak. Earth shaking mobilization has already begun. These sons of God that creation is crying out for, according to Romans 8, are being formed in the womb of holy dissatisfaction.
One necessary truth that cannot be bypassed is the fact the Nehemiah was sent with resources into his assignment. Within this story lies a key apostolic component that is many times overlooked, although essential in the context of building with heavenly authority. Nehemiah gains a granted request for letters to be sent with him that would permit him access into Judah as well as gaining the necessary timber to build the gates, the city walls, and the house he would occupy. Talk about favor! Nehemiah was set up for success before ever engaging in the building. His submissive heart posture toward authority authorized him that only comes through humility. One of the primary characteristics of this emerging company is a governing authority that has been inherited within the maturing incubator of apostolic families. Sonship will be sealed in their hearts, and they’ve been granted access into a supernatural realm of sight when others have suffered from impaired vision due to an inability to remain planted. The angelic intervention will go before this Nehemiah company, and what has been prolonged for decades will burst forth into alignment overnight. The decrees and proclamations of these are bold, courageous, confident, and offensive to the religious antagonist. The God of angel armies will fight for them.
A problem that had existed for 114 years was met by the bravery of this kingdom man Nehemiah, and his rebuilding of the wall in just 52 days! Seems almost too good to be true I know! Although, this is a prophetic picture for the days ahead! Promises that we have carried for decades will begin to come to pass over the next 10 years. Sons and daughters are finding their bridal identity which is already leveraging unprecedented breakthroughs and causing a rewiring to their interior worlds.
