Am I Missing It?

At some point, in the life of every believer, there will come a point and time where you will ask yourself the question, am I missing it?

I don’t know many believers who possess a blatant desire to displease God, which therefore leads me to believe in the hearts of most believers lies a sincere, pure desire to follow the will of God for their lives. If you have chosen to walk the narrow road of following Jesus you have chosen to place your life in someone else’s hands who happens to have a pretty good handle on your future who knows the beginning to the end, His name is Alpha and Omega. One of the primary reasons people give their lives over to God is they have become radically aware of their inability to make decisions today that drastically impact how their tomorrow will look. At some point throughout the journey of life you eventually come to a screeching halt, recognizing your desperate need for someone who knows the answer to the one of the biggest questions of humanity, why do I exist on this earth? There lies a conviction in your heart that there has to be a superior way of reigning in life, rather than casually breezing through your time on the earth without an internal awareness of your purpose.

If and when you step out of the boat and begin to swim in the uncharted waters of embracing what makes your heart come alive, periodically everyone experiences the winds of adversity. Bumps in the road, hiccups, unexpected hardships, curveballs, disappointments, and difficult circumstances you did not predict, come knocking on your front door. For some of us when our comfortable routine gets shaken up and life seems to get flipped upside down, we tend to run into isolation and lock the door to the outside world praying for everything to just go away. Believe it or not, no one is safe from adversity, and all of us are vulnerable to get knocked off our feet from time to time. These situations tend to create a swirl of uncertainty that forces itself to the forefront of our minds and bubbles up to the surface of our daily thought process. Like an alarm in our brains we wake up every day desperately questioning, am I missing it?

Questions begin ringing like a loud bell in our ears such as am I even called to do this, or is this even God’s will for my life? We must remember God is never the author of confusion or doubt. Chances are you aren’t missing it and your right in the middle of God’s ultimate design for your life! I choose to not acknowledge the enemy often, simply because I don’t like to acknowledge a defeated foe, and Ephesians 4:27 instructs me to, “not give the devil a foothold.” Although I would like to point out that one of the ways scripture defines him is the accuser of the brethren. It would bring the father of lies great pleasure if you begin to question your identity. This is a downward slope that leads to a dead-end of discouragement where we throw the towel in and quit pursuing our God-given assignment on the earth. The battle has never been over good and evil or right from wrong. Rather the battle is over your willingness to embrace who God says you are! Don’t buy into the lie, and choose to rise above the noise! A convinced child of God operating in their original authenticity, clothed in confidence, and wrapped in the arms of the Beloved, is armed and dangerous! You are fully equipped to wreak havoc on the darkness that covers the earth! So arise and shine and lay hold of your destiny!

I would like to leave you with a question. “What makes you come alive?” My conviction is that too many believers get so wrapped up in wanting to find the will of God for their lives that they end up going in circles. They remain idle and lay down in a bed of inferior comfortability that leaves them empty and never satisfied. No one ever remembers those who never launch out and take a risk. Refuse to spend your days waiting for the mailman to hand-deliver your destiny in a package at the front door. The kingdom doesn’t operate that way. While we are complaining to God begging him to show us what He wants us to do, He is waiting for us to start marching in faith. It’s our job to prepare for rain, it’s His job to send the rain. This is how Abraham received his promise and walked into his purpose. Let me remind you that God told Abraham He would show him on the way where he was ultimately going. Abraham didn’t have the luxury of knowing the next 10 steps. He was rather awarded the first thing he needed to do. God gave a simple yet complex instruction to leave His country, His father’s house, and His family and go to a place that God would show him along the way. Could it be that the next move of God that will hit the earth is wrapped up in your response to His beckoning call to boldly say yes to embarking on a journey that many are called to but few choose to embrace?

I would like to propose to you that God wants what you want and enjoys the things His children enjoy. I know that can be a stretch for those of us who grew up believing in a God who lived in constant frustration because His kids never measured up, and we never could perform good enough to make him truly happy. One revelation desperately needed in the body of Christ in this hour is that God's love will never diminish based on our inability to measure up. He’s not fickle, and on your worst day, He still takes delight in you. He does not punish us by withholding our joy and internal satisfaction to prove a point. Every desire of your heart and dream you desire to experience can be fulfilled through a simple activation of the words written in Psalm 37. In his old age, David penned the 37th Psalm with hopes of putting the reader's mind at ease and exalting the God who holds creation in the palm of His hand. It reads,

“Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.”

When one chooses to delight themselves in the Lord we become pregnant with a purpose that is imparted to us by God. Naturally, we become what we behold, therefore the desires of the Lord become our desires. When you hang out with the king of all dreams you begin to dream God-sized dreams. His nature gets deeply deposited on the inside of your heart and the hunger pains for greatness begin to swell in your innermost being! So, how do you know if you're missing it? If you are delighting yourself in the Lord, it's impossible to miss it! Even when we get off track, He is merciful to pick us up and lead us back to the center of his love. He’s ready to meet you today with open arms. I must warn you though, when you sit with the Lion of Judah, get ready for Him to roar over your words of destiny. You are called for such a time as this!
